A packaging and branding project for a fictional Japanese shoegaze band named チョコレート. The concept behind チョコレート is to keep the music faceless and reclusive; to focus less on the artist and more on the sound being created.

This album packaging represents the feeling チョコレート creates with their sound: light in complete darkness, and hope in the most dreary of times. It represents a familiar but blurry distance, and is meant to be enjoyed in total isolation – with songs feeling like dark yet beautiful secrets being whispered that find their way deep into the listener’s consciousness.

Semester long concept-driven project that explores a city built using only paper. Includes pattern development, construction, design, and assembly, and packaging of the actual city.

Aeternum represents the future of sustainable living; the first opportunity of space colonization outside of planet earth. Inhabitants can discover in free reign, explore, and live in a completely new modular environment that will carry the human race into the next century and beyond. There are separate sectors to this habitat and each sector plays a vital role in the concept of this city.

Change is one of the most important and unique aspects to Jazz. Improvisation on the spot and coming up with melodies off the top of one’s head is essential.

MoJ acts as a center for interactive and visual learning, where visitors are encouraged to change and experiment with the content of the museum, much like playing jazz. By collaborating and improvising with other visitors, a key aspect of the music genre is then learned. This gives the visitors a feel for how the musicians perform at any given time.

The goal of this 4-week project was to position branding and promotion materials to reflect the arrhythmic, “out-of-key,” formless, and avant garde aspects of jazz improvisation.

I believe that the documentation of breakthroughs is essential to growing as a designer. This was one of the more experimental projects in terms of mediums used, so I decided to note the processes I came across as sort of a reference guide for the future.

This app was meant to act as the thread between each member, providing presentation times, speaker profiles, a map of the facility, and the location of members at the conference. Staying with the concept of “poached”, the app features a camera that allows you to “poach” people at the conference and save their photos for future reference – a sort of pocket Coolhunter to document trends and styles.
